Through her presentation, Mihaela Coc\u00eer\u021b\u0103, Executive Director of the Destination Management Organization (OMD) \u021aara Dornelor, highlighted the importance of sustainable development and local collaboration for advancing the region at the \u201cRegional Economic Forum Moldova 2024.\u201d \u201c\u021aara Dornelor has exceptional development potential, and OMD represents a crucial step in harnessing this through multiple projects and integrating innovative solutions<\/i>\u201d, stated Mihaela Coc\u00eer\u021b\u0103.<\/p>\n

OMD \u021aara Dornelor: an essential public-private partnership<\/b><\/p>\n

The Destination Management Organization \u021aara Dornelor was established in 2023 as a public-private partnership with public utility status, aimed at collaborating with local administrations and economic agents in the area to develop and promote the region. \u201cBuilding a destination management organization is not an easy process<\/i>\u201d, explained Mihaela Coc\u00eer\u021b\u0103, \u201cbut international models demonstrate the necessity of such a structure to ensure sustainable and coordinated development of the destination<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Consultation and development strategy<\/b><\/p>\n

To create a relevant organization that meets community needs and aligns with current tourism trends, \u201crepresentatives from local administrations, economic agents in the HoReCa sector, qualified personnel in tourism, as well as relevant institutions<\/i>\u201d were consulted, explained the executive director of OMD. The research conducted highlighted that responsible tourism is not only an economic opportunity but also a catalyst for the growth and development of the local community.<\/p>\n

Vision for a sustainable destination<\/b><\/p>\n

At the core of the development strategy for the \u021aara Dornelor destination lies a clear vision: \u201cdeveloping a destination for authentic experiences, aimed at responsible tourists, where local heritage is protected and development is based on sustainable principles and efficient resource management<\/i>\u201d, stated Mihaela Coc\u00eer\u021b\u0103. The main objective of OMD is to create a favorable environment for the development of the local community, while also ensuring the resilience of the destination and promoting a circular economy.<\/p>\n

Pillars of sustainable development<\/b><\/p>\n

Among the essential pillars of sustainable development within OMD are \u201cinter-institutional and public-private collaboration, development of tourist infrastructure, organization of territorial space, protection of local heritage, education and awareness, as well as promotion through marketing and communication<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

These elements are crucial for ensuring a positive impact on the region and aligning with international standards of responsible tourism.<\/p>\n
