\u201cMoldova is recognized for having the highest density of vineyards per capita in the world,\u201d<\/i> Ol\u0103ra\u0219u stated, thus emphasizing the strategic value of winemaking for the national economy.<\/p>\n

Moldova hosts approximately 200 wineries and six educational institutions dedicated to wine and wine tourism. \u201cThis reflects a strong commitment to education and research in the viticulture field,\u201d<\/i> explained Ol\u0103ra\u0219u, highlighting the importance of professional training in improving the quality of wine products.<\/p>\n

Moldova ranks 20th in the world in wine exports, with wines exported to about 70 countries. \u201cKey destinations include Romania, Poland, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Japan, and Canada,\u201d<\/i> noted Ol\u0103ra\u0219u, highlighting the international success of Moldovan wines.<\/p>\n

Moldovan wines have gained international recognition, winning over 6,500 medals at prestigious competitions such as Mundus Vini, Berliner Wine Trophy, and London Wine Competition. \u201cThese awards are a testament to the quality and passion with which Moldovan winemakers practice their craft,\u201d<\/i> stated Ol\u0103ra\u0219u.<\/p>\n

The Wine Road of Moldova: A European Cultural Route<\/b><\/p>\n

The route \u201cThe Wine Road of Moldova\u201d is the first cultural-touristic route certified by the Council of Europe, integrating circuits in the four wine regions with Protected Geographical Indication. \u201cThis is an example of synergy between tourism and winemaking, offering visits to 40 wineries and numerous cultural-wine events,\u201d<\/i> explained Ol\u0103ra\u0219u.<\/p>\n

Wine tourism is becoming increasingly popular, with 60% of tourists visiting at least one winery, and for 43%, the wine heritage is the main reason for their trip. \u201cPromotional materials, such as the wine tourism guide and the map of wineries, support this type of tourism and contribute to local economic growth,\u201d<\/i> added Nicolai Ol\u0103ra\u0219u.<\/p>\n
